Every season we head to Fashion Week, street-style spot and grab the latest trend forecasts- it seems we could be saving ourselves some time and simply checking what Queen Elizabeth is throwing on in the morning. We always knew the Queen had an eye for style, have you seen her in the same outfit twice? And surely at least two rooms in Buckingham Palace are dedicated to hats alone. If you need convincing, check out our tongue-in-cheek trend report on HRH Queen Elizabeth.

All this time we thought we followed the catwalk …it turns out that the whole world follows Liz…

Long before Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen set the runway alight with tartan creations – Elizabeth was rocking the trend along with her sister. Extra points awarded for giving the print a masculine edge with socks and brogues.

Tweed blazers and jodphurs seem to come in and out of fashion most Autumn/Winter’s. We even spotted a hat or two last year – but here Elizabeth shows that if you are going to wear a trend – go head to toe.

Asymmetrical Hemlines

This year we are loving Asymmetrical hemlines. They are super flattering and add a twist to a plain dress. However, Elizabeth has well and truly pipped us to the post here – wearing her asymmetrical dress in the 40’s . Get the look with our Timothea Dress .

Leopard Print Accessories

We all know that accessories can make an outfit, and finding a girls wardrobe that doesn’t contain a flash of leopard print is pretty impossible. Whilst out and about in London in 1958, Elizabeth used a striking leopard print scarf to make a bold statement.  Get her look with our Genewa Scarf !

Designers such as Prada, Valentino and Miu Miu must have this image pinned to their inspiration boards this season as lace dresses were sent down the catwalks for SS12. We love how Elizabeth was ultra-feminine in a full skirted dress with matching bolero jacket- showing off her tiny waist. The ultimate female style icon.  Get your lace pieces here !

From pastel posies to bright blooms – we are all sporting florals in the office this season. Again, Elizabeth runs with this trend by matching her hat to her jacket. A look that would intimidate most fashionista’s but not our Royal Highness . Paired with perfect pearls and a peter pan collar.

Many of you reading this will recently have added a pastel piece to your Spring wardrobe – but as we look back at photos of the Queen in the 60’s we can’t help but feel envious of her perfect pastel suit. We love how she has dressed her daughter – Princess Anne in a contrasting yet complimentary pastel suit also. We just need to talk our friends into dressing to match our outfits now. Check out our pastel trend here .

Outdoor Khaki Jackets

Alexa Chung has been getting the credit all these years for bringing the khaki outdoor jacket onto our fashion radars – but it seems that she was only following in the Queens footsteps. Not afraid to get out in the fields and pulling on her Wellies – Queen Elizabeth might be coming to a festival near you soon.

Pussybow blouses are always a perfect addition to your Autumnal wardrobe; taking the best elements of a men’s tailored shirt and adding a soft feminine, playful bow. If only we all looked this chic whilst dog walking.Get this style with our ‘Do It Like A Lady’ trend.

Colour Pop

Whilst we have all embraced colour this season, Queen Elizabeth has been working this trend since the 80’s. A fuchsia pea coat perfectly accessorised with a floral hat; we love how she works the Summer trend, even when those around her are huddled under umbrella’s.

Scarf Print

No wonder HRH is grinning from ear to ear, she knew scarf print would eventually be working its way into ever fashionista’s wardrobe, but she had jumped on the trend 3 years previous. Perhaps she was having a rare bad hair day (has anyone actually ever seen Queen Elizabeth with a hair out of place ?! ) , or perhaps it was nippy that day – whatever the reason for this fashion-forward look – we salute you .

Remember last year at the X Factor Auditions when Cheryl Cole wowed the crowds in a cute monochrome bow print dress? And we championed her stylist’s? We hate to admit it, but it seems that we might have been praising the wrong person. Take a bow Queenie – we have seen the light! Get your royally inspired piece from our New Monochrome Trend.

Despite the hot weather and the rails of prints coming into MGHQ daily, some of us are still wary of bright prints – until we saw this photo. Mixing coral, turquoise and canary yellow, our new style icon looks set for Summer. We swear we saw something similar on the runway of Dolce & Gabbana for SS12 !

Statement Sunglasses

Every A-Z lister knows that if you are in the spotlight a pair of oversized sunglasses are a must have. At first glance this could be none-other than tea-cup loving Lady Gaga – the statement shades, bold colours, platinum hair…. Just when you thought our Queen couldn’t get any cooler. Take note and grab yourself some on-trend eye-wear here !

The Midi

2 years ago it was all about the 60’s mini, last year we embraced the maxi, and this year we are all showing off our ankles in the midi, but it seems yet again we have been beaten at our own game as Elizabeth loves her range of midi skirts and dresses. In this outfit alone she is rocking 4 serious trends – Pastel, Military, Midi and Tailoring. Is it only a matter of time before we see her sitting FROW at London fashion Week or popping up on our fav Street Style websites ?

If you are not convinced that HRH Queen Elizabeth is the ultimate British Style icon, then we give up. There is not a trend this lady cannot work, a print she cannot wear or a colour she will shy away from. Instead of celebrating 60 years on the throne, maybe we should be celebrating 86 years of her being a Fashion Icon –

Queen Elizabeth we salute you !
