What’s your 9-5?

I’m the junior merchandiser on jumpsuits and playsuits. I’m responsible for sales forecasting and stock management, making sure we have the right stock at the right time.

I work alongside the buying team to produce seasonal plans for the department and ensure that we are achieving sales forecasts.

Why did you choose merchandising?

I’ve loved fashion from a young age, so I knew I wanted to be involved in the fashion industry. I love carrying out in-depth analysis and identifying opportunities and risks. That’s what Merchandising is all about!

One thing you should know about merch is:

Communication is key. 🔑

Tell us your favourite part of the job…

I love analysing data and recognising sales trends as well knowing what products we are pushing for the season. There’s some very exciting products lined up for the rest of AW!

What’s your boss babe mantra?

Turn your doubts into determination.

Alexandra Campbell – Assistant Merchandiser

Alexandra Junior Merchandiser

What’s your 9-5?

I work on the footwear team, alongside the merchandiser & trainee. My job role involves forecasting sales for the department, then based on the sales ensuring the right amount of money is spent on product each month. I’m also responsible for guaranteeing best sellers are constantly in stock.

What qualifications does a merchandiser need?

A degree in fashion merchandising/business is always useful but this isn’t a deal breaker. Experience is also important so don’t worry if you’ve not been to uni! Merchandising is all about numbers so if you enjoy maths then this is the job for you!

Tell us one thing you have learned from the job…

You don’t have a clue what’s going on until about 6 months down the line but then everything starts to make sense.

What’s your favourite thing about working in merch?

The satisfaction of seeing sales come through after presenting your sales plans to the management team.
