Meet CVSS, she’s an East London DJ that we are obsessed with RN. We caught up with her ahead of her opening slot for Blac Youngsta, on 10th November.
Growing up, CVSS spent her time between Paris and London. She also works in Culture Marketing alongside her DJ career. Read the full interview below to find out more about her sound, style and upcoming events…
How would you describe your sound?
I would describe it as eclectic & turn up! I love playing music that makes people feel good and really want to party and vibe.
How did you get into music?
I’ve always been someone to go out of my way to look for new music, so all my friends would always ask me for new music and who to watch out for. I started off working as an assistant specialist producer at kiss FM. I worked on all the specialist shows such as the hip-hop show with Shortee Blitz & MK, DJ EZ, House show with Pioneer and more. After seeing them DJing and how fun it was, I thought you know what I can do this. I bought a controller to use and practise at home. My good friend puts on a few nights in London and he asked me to open up for one, (I was so scared and nervous!) but it went really well. Since then, it’s just been opportunity after opportunity, it’s really just down to working hard and practising.
Who is your dream collaboration?
Ooh this is a really hard question! I think I would love to work with Rihanna, just because she is so bad ass and seems like a fun trouble maker like me. I would love to throw a party with DJ Duffy, she seems so fun and could be a fellow twerking partner!
What is your most memorable night out?
My good friends Bossy Ldn throw some of the best parties. They recently threw a party for Megan Thee Stallion and it was wild. Taylah Elaine +1 parties and any of I AM NEXT parties at Scotch are always fun and crazy.
When I’m behind the decks, my fav night has to be RILLA which takes place in Shoreditch, it’s always a good vibe and fun crowd.
What’s your career highlight so far?
So far it has to be playing at Coachella. I still have to pinch myself to remember that it was real. I had the opportunity to open the main stage for Migos, French Montana, Russ and more. It was the wildest day of my life, I shared a dressing room with artists I listen to and watch on TV. It was crazy and an eye opener to see how hard work can really pay off.
What does a day in the life look like for you?
Everyday is always different, which I love. In the day, I manage a space called N-studio, we have a huge space and recording studio with DJ equipment. As well as managing the space, I put on events and create content for the online platform. Once I’ve finished, I’ll usually have a DJ set in the evening, so i’ll practise on the decks and then rush home get ready and go to my gig. It’s very hectic, no time for a love life!
What do you like to do in your downtime?
I’m a massive foodie, I love to eat. I spend most of my downtime relaxing to be honest. My work is very social, so it’s nice to get some me time, do a face mask and make some food at home.
What’s upcoming on the agenda for you?
So I have some really exciting stuff coming up, I’ll be opening up for Blac Youngsta on the 10th of November at the 03 Kentish forum. Later in November I’ll be back in Paris DJing at a launch party and there is an event coming up with PAUSE magazine, they have an event called PAUSE YARD which will be a day party!
