The Pay Day Edit

Christmas is great and everything, but one of our favourite parts of December is that we get two pay days in the space of a few weeks. Yeah, we need to prepare ourselves for a January that’s sure to last for about 67 days, but future-you can worry about that right? Treat yourself. Not sure what you should be buying into this month? Let us give you some inspiration, courtesy of our fave celebs, with our ultimate payday edit.

Gym Leggings

The festive season is all fun and games until it’s January, you’re hungover, cold, skint, and you can’t do up any of your jeans thanks to over-indulging on the roasties at Christmas dinner. Prepare in advance by investing in activewear. Whether you’re actually planning on a “new-year new-me” gym membership, or you just want some pants with an elasticated waist, gym leggings are what you need. Go matchy-matchy with the coordinating gym bra for an outfit that will have you looking like an athlete.

Roll Neck Jumpers

New year, still cold. Ward off the January blues with neon knitwear – The brighter the better. This way you can bring the sunshine to any occasion, even when there’s actually only daylight for about 5 hours a day. Oversized and roll neck styles are super-cosy and on-trend… Winner. Throw yours on with a loose-fitting pair of mom jeans and coordinate your accessories with the chosen colour – Think neon pink trainers or a bright bag. Look hot. Stay warm. 2019, done right.

Patterned Coats

Animal print isn’t going anywhere in the new year, and if you’re not already rocking an animal print coat then you should be updating your outerwear pronto. Long gone are the days when leopard print coats were Kat Slater in Eastenders territory. They’re now a style essential. Go for classic leopard print like Kendall, or a 2019 twist with zebra print. Off-set your look with lace or satin for a sleek, classy outfit that will win you major style points.

Safari Shirts

Heading out anywhere in January feels like a mission. Gail force winds, snow, rain. Every time you leave the house you feel a bit like an intrepid explorer. So why not dress like one? Give off those “I’ve travelled the world” vibes with a simple safari shirt. Loose fitting, and casual, this shirt honestly goes with anything. Wear yours with wide-leg trousers and heels for an out-out look, or over jeans with boots for a more laidback approach that still packs a punch.

Ripped Jeans

Be prepared for the “did you buy those jeans like that?” comments off your nan, because ripped and distressed jeans are still big news going into 2019. Loose-fitting, mom and boyfriend jean styles are what you need to be investing in. Wear yours with a teeny-tiny crop top and trainers like Madison for the perfect back-to-college casual outfit. Or, if you’re not a convert to dry January, and you’re in the mood to party, then just add heels and you’re night-out ready.
