HOLIDAY HAIR

As much as we LOVE holidays, the heat, humidity, salt and chlorine can really take its toll on your lush locks. So we caught up with our hair and makeup artist Fy to give us the lowdown on her hottest holiday hair tips to give your hair a chance of survival throughout the summer months.

 1. Humidity can cause havoc with our hair on holiday. A great serum and heat protection spray can really help to control this – just use sparingly on fine hair

2. Seawater can actually help create beach waves but it can also dry hair out. By using a leave-in conditioner, you can achieve beach waves without the brittleness that that can sometimes happen with sea water and sun

3. Have a good trim prior to your holiday. This will get rid of any split ends, therefore preventing any more whilst you’re away

4. A good shampoo will dissolve any chlorine, particularly on blonde hair (it can often look green due to the chlorine in the poi water!), followed by lashings of conditioner

5. Argan oil works wonders on heat and sun damaged air

6. Coconut oil is a quick fix hair mask on holiday. Massage it into your hair from root to tip before going to bed and wash out in the morning. Make sure your final rinse is with cold water to close the hair follicles

7. A hat! A wide brim hat not only protects your face from the harsh rays of the sun, but also gives your hair and scalp a break too

8. Lemon juice is a natural way to lighten hair in the sun. All you need to do is put freshly squeezed lemon onto the ends for a natural, ombre look

9. Leave your hair to dry naturally when you’re on holiday. It gives your hair a break from even more heat damage and it makes for a cool boho undone look. Adding braids to damp hair and allowing it to air-dry will create deeper waves

10. Dino braids are cool AF right now and also an awesome ‘do to rock on holiday
