THE SS15 BEAUTY TRENDS YOU NEED TO TRY| February 24, 2016
Fashion month might be in full flow, but with summer just around the corner we’re thinking ahead to the hair and makeup trends every cool girl will be trying.
Missguided’s makeup artist Fai gives us the skinny on the biggest beauty trends for SS15…
The makeup trends…
Blue eye makeup
Blue eye flicks, eye smokes, glitter and blue lashes, from pastel to bold hues, all featured on the runway for what we think is the trend of the moment. But it wasn’t just eyes, blue nails were big too with the shape kept neat and short, painted pastel and matte or electric and shiny. Style it out with bare lips so that the eye is the statement, just a little lip balm is all that’s needed.
Statement lashes are completely over the top, think 60s Twiggy style. The catwalks taught us to keep lips and eyes bare, making the lashes the main feature with clumpy mascara…and coloured if you’re feeling daring.
Bronze and gold eyes are making a comeback and we think they’re perfect for prom. Add a touch of luxe into your beauty routine and sweep a metallic hue over the lid to warm up the skin. Pair with a natural lip or go all out and pick out a glossy red for a real statement.
It looks like overgrown brushed out brows are still with us for the foreseable future and the bleached brow is making a comeback in SS16. Not only for blondes but also for brunettes. Are you bold enough to rock this look?!
The hair trends…
Get your straigthening irons back out because poker straight locks were all over fashion week for SS15. Perfect the look with blunt cuts and off centre partings.
Buzz cuts are back! Girly skinheads influenced by Annie Lennox circa 1980 for those of us bold enough to get the chop. We loved this look on the catwalks teamed with edgy tailoring and barely there make up.
What’s not to love about mermaid hair? We predict colour to be massive this season. Expect under-colouring to be everywhere this SS16 with bold and washed out pastels.
This one is big every season with that straight-out-the-sea look being one of our faves. This season, waves are much more relaxed and it’s more about texture than big, curls. Just a slight bend to the gair, a little season salt spray and leave naturally to dry if you wanna ace the trend.
Believe us when we say that this is definitely one we will be trying out at the festivals this summer. Cornrow buns made a debut on the catwalk with the whole base of the head neatly braid into a messy top knot. We love!
