MISSGUIDED ACTIVISTS: MARI| March 11, 2015
We might be well into March, but our Missguided Activists are sticking to their New Year’s Resolutions with the help of their Missguided Active garms. We caught up with Mari to chat all things exercise and check out what she’s been trying out in the gym…
Hi Mari, so tell us, what’s been keeping you motivated at the gym?
So my challenge for 2015 was to try five new sports…yes five. When sport and exercise doesn’t come naturally to you, this can seem quite scary. However, my amazing new gym garms from Missguided Active gave me that extra push and it was time to put them through their paces.
What sports have you been challenging yourself to try out?
First on the list was spinning. I honestly thought spinning was just sitting on an exercise bike for 40 minutes enjoying a leisurely cycle to some good music! Well I couldn’t have been more wrong.
What does spinning involve?
After the initial warm up to get our legs moving, things get pretty serious! The lights go down, the volume goes up and the intensity doubles. 20 minutes later and the resistance is almost too much, you’re using every ounce of energy just to push the pedals. Just as you think you can’t push anymore, the work out changes pace and it’s time for sprints. The resistance turns down and you can finally feel your legs again.
Would you encourage others to try it out?
I can honestly say I’ve never had a workout like it. The instructors are super enthusiastic and really encourage you to keep going. The good thing about spin is, it’s completely in your control, and you can push yourself as hard as you want. It’s a great form of exercise for all levels Just when you think you can’t go on anymore the track changes, you refocus and get those feet moving to the beat again!
Will you be going back?
I’ll definitely be back again! 30-40 minutes of work is 400-600 calories burned! The elation kicks in, and you think ‘I’ve done it!’ If you fancy changing up to your exercise routine definitely give spinning a go!
