We caught up with model, playmate and ultimate babe Jordan Emanuel. We found out about her modelling journey, her Playboy experience and her female role models. Jordan was Playmate of the Month for December 2018 and went on to win Playmate of the Year for 2019. Not only that, but she has cofounded a non-profit organisation called Women With Voices to empower women in business.
In case you didn’t know, a Playmate is a model that has been featured in the centrefold of the monthly Playboy magazine. Once you have been given the prestigious title of Playmate, this is something you hold for the rest of your life.
Every week we will be catching up with a new Playmate, so make sure you check back for the latest interview.
Jordan Emanuel Q+A
Can you tell us a little about your modelling journey?
I’m originally from Baltimore, but I grew up in Basking Ridge, NJ. I started modelling accidentally. I’m so extra about my birthday that I did a 25 day photo shoot for the countdown and was noticed by an agency from that.
How did the opportunity with Playboy come about?
I went to the open call for the club in NYC and later became a bunny. Once I was a bunny I was working an event and corporate approached me about becoming a playmate and eventually became Playmate of the Year.
What does your role as a Playmate entail?
We are brand ambassadors, so our role is to represent our fellow playmates and Playboy well.
What has been the highlight of the job?
The highlight has 100% been the friends and sisters I’ve gained from the experience.
What is 1 surprising thing about being a Playmate that people might not know?
Hands down…they are shocked that we have brains. Which is shocking to me that in 2020 people can’t comprehend that beautiful women can have beautiful minds to match.
What do you want to use your influential platform for?
I just want to inspire people to do what their heart desires. Life is so short, there isn’t time to not be actively seeking what you want out of it, so inspiring people to go for what they want is what I like using the platform for.
What’s your empowering ‘boss babe’ mantra?
I like to remind myself that I’m in competition with no one, but myself, because there is enough room for everyone to succeed and do what they want to do.
What figures do you look up to in life and why?
I really appreciate Taraji P Henson and Emily Ratajkowski. Taraji is so relatable to me, she worked so hard and was so open about her journey it’s really inspiring, especially with her foundation. Emily, I see myself in as well, especially with her fight for women’s rights and starting her own businesses, all while occasionally showing some skin.
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Leave that f*ckboy alone
What does being a Playmate mean to you?
I’ve enjoyed following Playboy since I was a child so to later become a piece of that history is unbelievable.
