#MISSGUIDEDDISCOVERED: ABI HUDSON| April 26, 2017
We caught up with singer-songwriter, rising star and all round mega-babe Abi Hudson to chat musical inspo, fave gigs and what’s on the agenda for the rest of 2017…
Tell us about yourself…
I’ve grown up loving performing, I used to put on shows and force people to watch me! I started writing music in my early teens, basically as soon as could play the guitar a bit, writing then came naturally. I put out my first single, Fragile Around You in October last year, I would describe that track as intelligent, contemporary pop with a throwback vibe! I’ve just put out my follow up single Warm In The Room which is a simple but really beautiful track.
What 5 travel essentials can’t you live without on tour?
Lipstick, hairspray, phone charger, my favourite blanket and a cosy jumper to keep me warm especially this winter.
Your videos are amazing, what’s the inspiration?
Well really I am guided by wanting to create a visual that is complimentary/representative of the sound so the inspiration behind the video will vary according to the sound of the track. My new music video for Warm In The Room is about to come out so I’m really excited for that, it’s a total change of pace from my first video.
How would you describe your aesthetic and how does it inspire your music?
Well I think a lot of my creatively is driven by music as that’s my real passion, I think my fashion or style reflects my music as opposed to the other way around.
Who’s the coolest person you’ve met so far?
Well the other day I was sat two tables away from Annie Lennox…not sure that counts but it’s the best I’ve got.
Where can we see you perform next?
I’m just about to announce my next show so follow my socials and watch this space.
What’s the best gig you have ever played?
Definitely my debut single launch show at Camden Assembly. There was such a great, supportive atmosphere and it was so cool and surreal to hear people actually singing along to my song.

I’ve listened to a lot of Joni Mitchell when I was growing up and to me she a music icon. So I would love to collaborate on a track with her… The ultimate dream!
Why do you think the relationship between fashion and music is so strong?
An artist’s clothes is the first thing you see before you even hear their music a lot of the time. Their style can give you an insight into the kind of music they make. Plus, if I think I look good in my clothes at a gig, I feel more confident and will probably perform better.
What’s your favourite music video?
Sia’s “Chandelier” video. It’s so dark and tells a story. Also, the dancer in it is amazing.
What gets you hyped for a gig?
Normally I start getting excited when I’m getting ready and doing a quick, last minute shower rehearsal.
