#MISSGUIDEDDISCOVERED: ALICE CHATER| January 17, 2016
We love a babe with a dream and Alice is one powerhouse. It all started out at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London where she’s been performing since age 11. She recently completed recording her first 5 song EP, ‘My WonderLAND’ co-writing three of the songs. Influenced by big voices like Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Etta James she’s not faint-hearted when it comes to belting out a song.
We love your cover of Justin Bieber. What has been your favourite song to cover?
Thank you, I had so much fun recording it. I’m a big fan of Sia and I have recently recorded a cover of her new song “Alive”. I decided to arrange my own backing track made up of Acappella harmonies so it’s pretty experimental but I like to put my own stamp on songs I cover. It’s on my YouTube channel!
What Inspired your EP ‘Wonderland’?
I’ve always had a connection with Alice in Wonderland, even dressing up like her when I was little – I believed I was her! It’s also the 150th anniversary of the creation of Alice in Wonderland so I was excited to release my EP inspired by Alice’s adventures. I live in my own fantasy world…
When did you first start singing and why?
I’ve sung for as long as I can remember… It all started when I did impressions of opera singers when I was 6 or 7, it wasn’t long until everybody realised, including our neighbours, that I had a pretty powerful voice.
Tell us about yourself…
Well, I was often the class clown at school, and a bit of a rebel- I never played by the rule book and got in serious trouble at stage school. I’ve always loved performing, acting, dancing & singing. I’m not your typical ‘cool’ girl- I suppose some of my friends would call me a bit crazy.
What’s the best gig you have played?
As this is the very beginning of my career I have performed in a few venues. They each have their own vibe but I prefer the larger venues as opposed to the more intimate ones, as funny as it may be I’m much more comfortable performing in front of larger audiences rather than smaller ones!
Who’s your favourite artist and why?
This is a difficult one… It’s hard to pick out a single artist so I have three… Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera & Etta James and I am greatly influenced by all three!
