#MISSGUIDEDDISCOVERED: KINDER DJS| January 6, 2017
We caught up with Sydney-based sister duo Kinder DJs to chat best gigs, fave artists and what’s on the agenda for 2017…
Tell us about yourself…
HEYYY! We are Kinder, aka sisters, Briony and Savannah Osei. We are Sydney based DJ’s/producers! We love to play a range of music, but at the moment we are very much digging the house vibes. We of course love a good party! If we are not dancing, playing or writing music you will find us at the beach or eating yummy food or you may find Savannah curled up in bed watching Netflix.
What’s the best gig you have played?
Our favourite gig so far would be the Groovin The Moo Festival last year. It was in our hometown of Maitland, so it was so fun partying with all our friends. The festival had just such an awesome vibe, everyone in the crowd was a lot of fun!
Who’s your favourite artist and why?
We have a few but probably Lorde. She is something else for this generation. Her lyrics are very poetic and her melodies are simple yet so effective. We just really respect her, such a talented young lady!
Describe your sound in five words…
Housey, heavy, familiar vocals, FUN
What are you working on at the moment?
Working on material for our first EP. We are very excited to share our own music with everyone!! We are also in the middle of finalising sets for a few exciting gigs coming up!
What’s on the agenda for 2017?
Mainly working on this EP, as well as the few very exciting gigs which will be announced soon!!! ☺ One that has been announced that we are very excited for is Mountain Sounds festival in February!
Who is your guilty pleasure, most played?
Justin Bieber- Let Me Love You
What’s the last thing you listened to?
Sticky Fingers – Land of Pleasure album
What song do you want to be playing as you walk into the club?
Steve Aoki- Boneless. Although a completely different genre to what we play, it’s ironically one of our favourite songs to get us pumped for a gig every time.
If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?
Diplo. Anything he touches turns to gold!
What’s your spirit animal?
Who are you currently stalking on Instagram?
What makes you laugh?
What’s your secret addiction?
Watching Life Time movies
Who’s your celebrity wannabe wife?
What would your superhero power be?
What was the first thing you did this morning?
Turned our annoying alarm off
Tell us something weird about yourself…
Well, Savannah often collapses on the floor when in a fit of laughter, this can occur anywhere at any time, often at the most inappropriate times! Briony has a weird superstition if she thinks a bad thought she has to make a weird noise after the thought so it doesn’t come true…. We can be very strange girls…..
What item of clothing can’t you live without?
What items do you make sure you pack on tour?
Our chunky necklaces and platform shoes to reach the decks.
Who is your style icon and why?
Mimi Elashiry because she’s just funky.
Where do you look for fashion inspiration?
Instagram, tumblr, fashion blogs, old vintage stores.
What best describes your style on stage?
Boho/quirky… we love the boho style but we try to add unique touches and create a distinct costume in order to stand out and add to the atmosphere of our performances.
What’s your favourite fashion trend this season and why?
Probably bralettes because they go with so many tops/ dresses and are really comfy, would much rather wear one than wear a bra!
