#MISSGUIDEDDISCOVERED: NAOMI PILGRIM| March 24, 2017
We caught up with Sweden-based mega-babe and singer Naomi Pilgrim to chat breaking into the industry, proud career moments and what she’s got on the agenda for the rest of 2017…
Tell us about yourself…
Most of the time I’m happy, I’m fair, I love hugs and I’m restless.
Describe your sound in five words…
It’s all about the (base, no treble)
What was your big break into the industry?
When I dropped my first single No Gun and got to tour all over Scandinavia and do selected shows in GAS and the UK back in 2013.
When and how did you discover your passion and skills in music?
To me the skill is to never give up and I kind of rediscover that all the time actually.
Growing up my house was always filled with music and musicians so me singing and banging on the piano was kind of a way to socialize. Still is.
My mum always had an art project going on and that taught me that art is about expressing one self more than anything else.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m spending most of my days in the studio writing right now. And my zen mode.
What’s on the agenda for the rest of 2017?
I’m gonna record a couple of new smashes and I’m performing in the UK in the end of April. Looking forward to go back! Last time I was in London I got an energy healing and things really started to unfold for me, cant wait to see what will happen this time around.
What’s been the proudest moment of your career so far?
When I made a massive statement on Sweden’s biggest award show this January and at the same time gave airtime to The Specials classic “Racist Friend”. #punk

Stockholm Music and arts last summer. The energy was just right, Patti Smith and my mom was there and everyone was happy and light headed.
If you could collab with anyone who would it be?
Frank Ocean, I’m so in love with him. Bon Iver too.
What 3 tips would you give to emerging artists trying to break into the industry?
Practise, surround yourself with good energy people and have fun.
Who inspires you in the industry?
Visionairies like Michelle Kadir and artists doing their own thing all the way like Solange, Anderson .Paak and Silvana Imam.
Who is your guilty pleasure most played?
I don’t know to be honest.
Favourite music video?
The Blaze- Territory
What’s the last thing you listened to?
Childish Bambino- Redbone
What song do you want to be playing as you walk into the club?
Jay Z- Big Pimpin
Best song to get ready to?

9 p.m. waves by Miguel
What item of clothing can’t you live without?
What items do you make sure you pack on tour?
My skincare products, hair care and a scarf, electric toothbrush, fluid replacement and lypsyl.
Who is your style icon and why?
Erykah Badu. She is sharp as fuck but sincerely playful at the same time. Love her style. Solange is life too. Her lines and colours je t’adore.
Where do you look for fashion inspiration?
Mostly runways for fabric and flow but also stylists I love like Selam Fessahaye, magazines and Instagram.
What best describes your style on stage?
Depends on what kind of show I’m doing but I like to go solid. All black or all white, silhouettes and dreamy. Jewellery, rings and big hair.
What’s your favourite fashion trend this season and why?
Arty pop and vibrant colours.
If you could steal anyone’s wardrobe who’s would it be?
Iris Apfel’s. So much divinity for such long time. I’m not sure I would wear anything tho (what if I lost something?), so to be on the safe side Solange’s.
Why do you think the relationship between music and fashion is so strong?
Everything in arts goes well together, one thing inspires the other and so on. It’s about expressions and music and fashion is all about that. You put on a pair of jeans that fits your mood and same goes with the songs you’re currently listening to. It’s about understandings and recognizing too.
