Get set for the new season and feel the funk with a colour palette of burnt orange, red and true blue.  We’re gearing up for AW15 with fringing, flares and suede to ace the 70’s trend.

Stylist Sara gives us her tips for nailin’ this season’s hottest trend…

What pieces should we be looking out for to nail the 70s trend for AW15?

Flares are probably the easiest style to nail & work for most body-shapes. You can work them for the day with some kick ass platform boots & shaggy fur or for evening with piles of jewellery and some serious sequins. Also add skinny scarves, a versatile denim dress & a statement fringed suede jacket to your list. All of these pieces can be mixed and matched in with your current wardrobe to give it a 70’s hit.

What’s your number one rule when it comes to this trend?

Layer that look up ! Add a bold printed blouse underneath a denim dress & then throw on a neckscarf in a clashing print & finish with a multi-coloured fur. If it’s good enough for Gucci…

What’s the one wow piece that every girl needs next season?

Some ridiculously awesome multi-coloured fur coat. The bolder the better. We have a Tommy Hilfiger inspired star print fur coming in & thrown over denim, velvet flares or a sequin number, it’s going to get people taking notice !

How can we work the 70s trend from day to night?

Grab a jumpsuit ( wide legged or flared ) and throw it over a printed shirt, add a long skinny scarf and a fedora. Finish with some chunky boots. Then when the party gets started, swap your boots for some crazy sequined platforms, cast the shirt aside and dare to bare, then throw a fur coat over the shoulders for a look that would get you to the front of the queue at Studio 54.

Let’s talk celebs, who’s getting this trend right?

Alexa Chung & Langley Fox nail the silhouettes and textures of the 70’s but if you want to get the ultimate in inspo – look to the original style setters – Bianca Jagger, Debbie Harry & of course, Stevie Nicks.

What’s your favourite look from the shoot?

The black sheer jumpsuit. Its bad-ass with just the right amount of class.
