AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PEACE + LOVE DESIGNERS| November 2, 2015
The new Peace + Love collection has finally landed after months of intense research, design and creation. Capturing the drama and high-octane lifestyle of the lavish and famous, the complete collection is every it-girl’s dream wardrobe.
We caught up with our in-house designers to find out just who and what inspired them whilst designing Peace + Love…
If the Peace + Love collection told a story, what would it be?
When we were designing, the scenario we had in mind was a seriously lavish wild night out in LA that money couldn’t buy.
What was the biggest inspiration behind the collection?
We really wanted to capture the whole social media frenzy going on with celebs at the minute (think Kylie on Snapchat and Rihanna on Instagram). It was about offering a range that was head-to-toe fierce and really empowering to women.
Which couture designers did you look to for inspo?
We loved how the Balmain and Tom Ford catwalks were put together like the models were part of an ‘army’. We also love what Tom Ford did for female dressing at Gucci in the 90s. Supermodels are totally having a moment right now (Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss etc.) and we wanted our Missguided girl to feel a part of that lifestyle too.
Did you have any retro influences when designing the collection?
Totally Michelle Pfeiffer in the film Scarface! The coats, the dress, the parties, the man, the parties, and the scandal…we just love it.
