An Interview with a Missguided Photographer

Ever wondered what a day in the life of a fashion photographer looks like?  We caught up with Molly who works in the studio at Missguided to chat about her role and how she got the job…

Hey Molly, can you tell us a bit more about your role at Missguided?

Its quite varied – I’m mainly responsible for shooting and retouching in-house creative but I can also be shooting ecommerce, shoes and accessories or organising product stills.

What kind of thing to you do on a typical day?

It totally depends! Every day is different. But usually I am either shooting creative, retouching images from a creative shoot, shooting and retouching accessories or shooting ecommerce product. We also shoot and colour match product stills in-house, and we can receive requests for other creative shots to be done at any time – no day is ever the same which is what I love about it.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Working with the amazing studio team – we’re all really close! And also having the opportunity to work with amazing models every day who I loved even before I got the job!

Did you always know you wanted to be a fashion photographer?

I actually wanted to be a web designer up until college – I took a photography A Level and fell in love with it.

How did you land your role?

I came across the job online and applied. I got an interview and was given a two week trial before being offered a job.

If you could give one piece of advice for anyone trying to get into fashion photography, what would it be?

Shoot personal work every chance you get – even if it means nagging your friends to model and styling it yourself. You will eventually meet amazing people and build yourself a great team – just get your work out there by networking and keep building up your portfolio because your work speaks for you.

What are you looking forward to next at Missguided?

Every week is exciting – but I’m really looking forward to improving all of our imagery on the site and constantly looking to try new things!
